Free links from Google, Yahoo and MSN and are often missed when marketing a website. The great thing about these links apart from being free is that they can get you to the top of the search engine listings when people enter a service and a town when searching online.
This on top of all the other SEO work that you will no doubt be doing to promote your business. For example; if you are living in Leeds and you are interested in buying a Conservatory then you would probably search for “conservatory leads” or “conservatory supplier leads” rather than simply “conservatory”.
Follow my advice from here and invest half an hour of your time to appear towards the top of the search engine results! The first place to take you to is Google Maps Local Business Centre. You will need to open a free account but you will benefit from the minimal effort required.
Google maps appears at the very top of the search results and gives your name, telephone number and an actual map location. Easily the fastest and cheapest way to get first page Google exposure.
Secondly, visit MSN Live Search for more of the same and another chance to increase your visibility. MSN, although nowhere the size of Google, still accounts for aroung 8% of search traffic which is still worth having.
Thirdly, take a trip to Yahoo! Local Advertising and repeat the recipe. Yahoo! will try to upgrade you to the paid service as you go through the sign up. It’s up to you whether you bother or not. For myself, I would start of on the free service and see how it goes.
Yahoo enjoys circa 28% of search traffic and is well worth the minimal effort.
